About Mapping dBase Fields to DAZzle Fields

Field mapping is the process of identifying the fields in the dBase file to use in DAZzle for the Address Book or for printing.

Important! Before you can map fields, you must open your dBase file through the import process. For more information, see Import dBase Files.

DAZzle shows the fields in the dBase file on the left and the types of fields that DAZzle can use on the right. You need to make a connection (or map) between each dBase file field and the DAZzle field. There should be a one-to-one connection—a mapping—between each dBase field and the DAZzle field that you are using.

As you map fields, the Sample Address box shows you how the first address in the dBase file appears when printed. Use this as a guide to correctly select each field type. Make sure that you connect every field from the dBase file that should appear on the envelope or label.

Tips!
- You may map some fields in your dBase file as more than one type. Use the easiest method for you. For example, if you have a field that contains the entire name of the person, you could map it as a Full Name, Last Name, or Address Line 1 type.
- Do not select an Address Line for a field that only contains a City or State or ZIP. Make sure that you select the type of field exactly (for example, City, State, or ZIP Code).
- If you have a file where the City and State are in the same field, select City as the type.
- Make sure that you select all of the address fields in your dBase file. For example, if the first address only uses one of two possible address lines, make sure you still map both fields.
